Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to join our aerospace division in Bristol, specialising in aircraft structures. You will play a critical role in supporting our clients by delivering high-quality structural analysis, ensuring designs meet stringent safety, certification, and performance standards.


Responsibilities

* Perform detailed stress analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures using classical methods and finite element analysis (FEA).
* Conduct static, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments in accordance with relevant airworthiness requirements.
* Support the development and validation of structural concepts, modifications, and repairs.
* Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation for both internal stakeholders and external clients/regulatory authorities.
* Work closely with design, manufacturing, and certification teams to resolve structural challenges.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications

* Degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience as a Stress Engineer within the aerospace industry, ideally with a focus on aircraft structures.
* Strong capability in hand calculations and finite element modelling/analysis (e.g. NASTRAN, PATRAN, HyperMesh, Abaqus).
* Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance methodologies.
* Familiarity with civil or military aircraft certification requirements (EASA/FAA/DEF-STAN).
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong communication skills, with experience in producing clear and concise technical documentation.
