Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington is seeking a versatile Doorman / Luggage Porter to join our Front of House team. This dual role combines guest-facing responsibilities, logistical support, and concierge assistance to ensure a welcoming, efficient, and seamless guest experience. The successful candidate will work two days per week as Doorman and three days per week as Luggage Porter, with additional coverage for other Doormens holidays as required.
The Key Responsibilities will include:
As Doorman (2 days per week + holiday cover):
To be outside the hotel to greet and open doors for incoming and outgoing guests and clients in a friendly and courteous manner.
To offer directions and information to guests and clients of the hotel.
To hail taxis for guests and clients of the hotel as and when required.
To open vehicle doors for guests and clients on arrival at the hotel.
To take luggage out of taxis etc. for guests in a courteous manner.
As Luggage Porter (3 days per week):
Describe all hotel services to guests; provide other information as may be required; follows up on information requested if not known.
Page guests as required, deliver messages, packages or other items to guestrooms or other areas of the hotel as required.
Assist departing guests with their luggage and transportation arrangements, by picking up luggage from guest rooms, and checking it, or bringing it to the entrance, loading it in the taxi/car, etc, as required by the guest.
Assist the Concierge on duty as required by answering the telephone, taking messages, providing information, etc as required by the guest.
Perform any reasonable task as required by Concierge on duty to provide maximum guest service.
Handle luggage for tour group check-ins in accordance with established procedures and to include use of exit buy the luggage room.
The Experience & Qualifications for Doorman/Luggage Porter :
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written/verbal communication and the ability to communicate across all levels of an organization.
Confident individual who is adept in prioritising and managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Ability to take the initiative and deal with unexpected situations and last minute changes.
Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential data.
The successful candidate will be:
Enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive, resourceful with excellent attention to detail
Demonstrate excellent presentation, negotiation and communication skills with the customers and other hotel departments
Team worker
Ability to work under pressure in a fast pace environment
