We're excited to offer this opportunity within our Admin & Clerical workforce. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic qualified librarian to join our team helping NHS staff and students across Dorset to access and use evidence and knowledge to underpin patient care, education, lifelong learning, research and innovation.
Location and teams
UHD Knowledge and Library Services provides services across Dorset to two NHS Trusts. The role is part of the wider Education and Training Team with close working relationships across the UHD and Dorset Healthcare Trusts. There are two physical library spaces across UHD:
* Poole Hospital
* Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Responsibilities
* Deliver proactive library and knowledge services promoting resources and services to a wide range of NHS staff; conduct complex literature searches, synthesise and summarise results; provide end-user training to use resources effectively, and facilitate the exchange and sharing of knowledge by NHS teams across Dorset.
* Promote UHD Knowledge and Library Service and deliver services to staff in their workplace; conduct complex literature searches, produce current awareness bulletins and deliver information skills training to a wide variety of teams and students on placement.
* Attend education days, multidisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement groups to provide evidence from research and examples of good practice to inform the work of clinical and non-clinical staff.
* Develop services to implement the Knowledge for Healthcare development framework, local strategy and meet national accreditation standards.
* Support the Knowledge and Library Services Manager in enabling excellent healthcare and health improvement through professional library and knowledge services for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust and to their staff and healthcare students.
* Note: some services may move site this year or next as part of the New Hospital Programme; recruiting managers will answer service-specific questions at interview.
Qualifications and skills
* Qualified librarian with the ability to conduct complex literature searches and synthesise results.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proactive approach to customer service; excellent IT skills.
* Ability to deliver information skills training and to promote resources effectively to a wide range of staff and students.
* Ability to work across workplace settings and to participate in education days and team meetings to inform practice with research evidence.
Other information
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
