APPRENTICE GARDENER\n\nLocation: Sites across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Alloa and the surrounding areas \nContract Type: 24 Months Apprenticeship\nSalary: £23,582 per annum\nHours: Full Time, 37 hours per week with time off to attend college \n\nAbout The CWGC\nThe CWGC is a highly respected, prestigious, global Organisation that honours and cares for the 1.7 million members of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars, ensuring their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Funded by six Commonwealth Member Governments, we build and maintain memorials and cemeteries at 23,000 locations, in 150 countries, including some of the worldâs most iconic, landmark monuments. About this Role and You\nThe Apprentice Gardener will assist in the care, maintenance and development of turf and horticultural features within cemeteries and memorial, under guidance from the Head Gardener.\n\nDuties include turf culture, pruning, soil management, planting, pest control, machinery operation and maintenance, tree care, and the care of ornamental features. You will be travelling around different sites with a core team, who will mentor you on the practical elements of horticulture. You will be able to demonstrate\nâ¢\tUndertakes practical horticultural maintenance, renovation work and caretaking duties. This includes turf care, edging, hedge cutting, weeding, pruning\nâ¢\tResponsible for the safe operation, care, day to day maintenance of work equipment to a manufacturers guidance and reporting any issues to their Line Manager\nâ¢\tFamiliar with and competent in undertaking several routine administrative duties, including the use of IT and smart phones\nâ¢\tActively engages and work with other teams in the Region to deliver consistent standards across UKNA\nâ¢\tActs as a representation of the Commission at all times, including at CWGC held events at the cemetery\nâ¢\tProviding advice and other information to Cemetery Visitors/members of the public, helping them locate war graves\nâ¢\tUndertakes any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the role\nâ¢\tContributes to UKNA projects, tasks and working groups, as required\nâ¢\tRequired to complete all training of the Level 5 and Level 6 Horticulture Apprenticeship\n\nEveryone who works for us, or with us, shares our Values, which are formed around our concept of CARE (Commitment, Ambition, Respect and Excellence).
