Senior Research Technician (110829-0825)
Applications are invited to the role of graduate Senior Research Technician with a background in biochemistry or biological sciences. The role provides core technical assistance to help characterise bacterial cellulose fibres in the research group of Professor David Roper in the School of Life Sciences, University of Warwick, under the supervision of a senior laboratory researcher.
The role will support the project to alter, characterise and understand changes in biofilm/SCOBYs created by Komagataeibacter rhaeticus. This is an ambitious multi-partner project aiming to produce customisable bacterial cellulose using synthetic biology and biomaterial characterisation. You will use techniques spanning molecular genetics, molecular biology and chemical modification. You will also contribute to sample preparation to support more complex experiments including RNA-seq and biomaterial characterisation. A proactive attitude to work in, develop, contribute and take responsibility in this multi-partner project is required.
About You
You should have a laboratory-based research bachelor’s level degree or equivalent laboratory experience in a relevant subject area (biochemistry, biological sciences, or similar). You should have good organisational skills and high attention to detail. You should be able to work well both as part of a team and independently. Expertise in molecular biology, biomaterial post-processing and molecular genetics is desirable.
Recruitment to this post will be subject to security clearance. The funder requires UK nationality or five years’ UK residence to gain the high level of security clearance.
