Quakers in Britain (Quiet Company) is seeking a reliable and motivated Cleaning Assistant to join our Estates & Facilities team at Friends House. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and hygienic environment for staff, visitors, tenants, and events. The role involves carrying out daily and periodic cleaning tasks, operating cleaning machinery, monitoring hygiene standards, and supporting sustainability initiatives. You will work as part of a friendly team under the supervision of the Cleaning Team Leader, ensuring all areas of the building meet high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out daily and periodic cleaning tasks across offices, corridors, toilets, kitchens, lifts, staircases, café, library, and courtyard.
* Operate cleaning equipment safely, including vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, polishers, steamers, and jet washers.
* Dust, mop, polish, perform high-level cleaning, litter picking, stain removal, and waste disposal.
* Report shortages, damage, or hazards promptly to the Cleaning Team Leader.
* Ensure fire exits and corridors are kept clear and cleaning materials are stored safely.
* Support security and sustainability initiatives within the building.
* Attend training and team meetings as required.
About You
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a cleaning role in a comparable environment.
* Experience using cleaning machinery and maintaining hygiene standards across multiple areas.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to work independently, follow instructions, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks.
* Awareness of Health & Safety, COSHH, and fire safety regulations.
* A positive attitude and willingness to support sustainability initiatives.
Working Conditions
* Shift-based role covering 07:00–23:00, Monday–Sunday, including occasional event and weekend work.
* Indoor and outdoor work, involving standing, walking, bending, and some manual handling.
