Heavy Plant and HGV Technical Support £45,000 per annum Halifax, West Yorkshire - Office-based with occasional UK travel Permanent | Full-time | 38.75 hours / week (Mon-Fri 8:30-17:00)
Are you a skilled heavy plant, HGV, or fleet maintenance professional looking to transition off the tools without leaving your technical roots behind?
This unique opportunity allows you to stay closely connected to the HGV vehicles and equipment you know while guiding and supporting field engineers across the UK. You'll become the go-to person for technical advice on HGV and specialist equipment used helping engineers troubleshoot and succeed.
Responsibilities
* Offering first-line technical support to field engineers working on specialist heavy fleet vehicles.
* Diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults remotely (via phone / email) and occasionally on-site.
* Supporting both diesel and electric vehicle systems
* Collaborating with the in-house manufacturing and engineering team during your structured product induction.
* Providing ongoing technical training and support to engineers in the field.
* Logging and tracking technical queries to identify recurring issues and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* A strong background in heavy plant, HGVs, or mechanical engineering - ideally as a senior or master technician.
* Hands-on experience with hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical fault finding and repair.
* Exposure to plant or fleet vehicles such as refuse trucks, cranes, 360 excavators, tractors, or similar.
* Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance, Plant or HGV (City & Guilds, NVQ, IMI, or equivalent).
* A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the UK occasionally.
