Part-Time Young Persons Support Worker Opportunity Weston-Super-Mare Location: Clients home and local community Position Type: Part-time Working Hours: Week 1: Monday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Week 2: Monday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday or Thursday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM The weekly hours are 8 hours during term time and 16 hours during school holidays. About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to provide buddy support for a bright and spirited 12-year-old boy with a hypoxic brain injury living in Weston-Super-Mare. He is non-verbal but communicates confidently using Makaton and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). He loves engaging in a variety of fun activities such as: Arcades & soft play Bowling & cinema trips (he loves dancing in the aisles!) Horse riding Banger racing with his dad Outdoor adventures in local parks Youll be working closely with a warm, loving family who are passionate about providing the best opportunities for their son. What Were Looking For: Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) essential Familiarity with AAC and Makaton essential Experience with Epilepsy is strongly recommended Knowledge of or experience with positive behaviour support essential Confident around animals (the family has dogs, horses, and rabbits ) Active, enthusiastic, and able to keep up with a busy and lively young person Patient, creative, and adaptable to the childs changing moods and preferences A nurturing and flexible approach to care This role is ideal for those working or seeking experience in SEN school environments.
