We wish to appoint a Consultant Paediatrician to join our team of dedicated general paediatricians. As well as providing support to our patient inpatient unit and outpatients, the successful candidate will work 2 sessions per week alongside CAMHS colleagues as the paediatric link for the eating disorder service.
The post is an eight‑session position, with eight sessions for general paediatric duties (inpatient and outpatient) and two sessions working with the eating disorder service, in addition to participation in the Consultant on call rota (1:14) and current service week arrangements at Morriston Hospital.
Main responsibilities and duties
* Provide clinical care for children and young people, focusing on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Work as the paediatric link for the CAMHS Eating Disorder Service, supporting the MDT in the physical health assessment of young people and developing expertise in the physical health challenges of children with an eating disorder.
* Support the multidisciplinary team with their expertise in physical health for the wider eating disorder caseload and help develop the service, including local policy and guidelines.
* Participate in the Consultant on call rota at Morriston Hospital (1:14) and other prospective cover duties; travel between hospitals/clinics as required.
* Adhere to all Health Board policies, including radiation exposure (IRMER), infection control, dress‑code, and other procedures; challenge non‑compliance by colleagues.
* Possibly act as the Educational Supervisor for trainees, overseeing their training and providing initial career advice to junior doctors.
* Report on service improvement opportunities and any safety concerns.
Any changes to consultant working patterns that improve workforce within the department will be managed in line with Health Board policies.
