Data Centre Engineer – Fintech / Linux
£70,000 + benefits and bonus
Quant Capital is urgently looking for a Date Centre to join our high profile client.
Our client is a major global financial exchange, driven by technology. They are at the bleeding edge of not only product ideas but also technology and data manipulation. They use unique online data from many sources to create an ultra low latency trading environment for their clients. They have grown massively and recently were voted in the top 50 fintech firms globally.
This is a new role due to increased global connectivity. The role involves considerable autonomy and self-management.
Day to Day the Data Centre Engineer will:
* Data Centre operations, equipment installations and other changes LD4 Data Centre
* Hardware maintenance swap out and work with vendors to replace faulty components.
* Support Network and Systems engineers with Data Centre work
* Work with other engineers and on delivering various projects
* Carry out extensive fibre testing in LD4 and process the results.
Data Centre Engineers Must Have:
* Experience doing Data Centre work, equipment and cabling installations
* Strong familiarity with fibre based cabling standards and installations.
* Rigours and detailed oriented approach to complicated tasks.
* Experience doing server configuration via ILO or similar
* Understanding of network equipment and protocol fundamentals
* Good working knowledge of Linux & Windows operating systems and using troubleshooting tools
* Able to regularly commute to LD4 in Slough, have access to a car
* Knowledge of change control systems and related working restrictions
