As a company, we operate within a fast-paced environment across a diverse range of projects primarily in London and the South East, but with projects stretching across the whole of England.
We are looking for an on-site Safety, Health & Environmental Advisor for our project based in Chester.
About the Role
T. Vaughan Ltd.'s nominated site SHE Advisor will have the main responsibilities but not limited to:
1. Assist the Directors, SHEQ Manager, and Project Manager in all matters relating to health, safety, quality, and environmental management on site, serving as the primary contact for these matters.
2. Conduct daily HSE walk-arounds to ensure compliance, spending at least 50% of time on site each day.
3. Perform and document site inspections and audits (minimum once per week).
4. Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), COSHH assessments, manual handling assessments, toolbox talks, procedures, and other safety documentation.
5. Conduct site inductions and orientations for new workers.
6. Provide training, workshops, and Toolbox Talks as required.
7. Assist in developing and managing lifting plans, waste management plans, rescue plans, traffic management, and site-specific procedures.
8. Ensure site-specific PPE and RPE requirements are met, including carrying out RPE mask face fit testing (training can be provided).
9. Oversee and order H&S/PPE consumables, stock, and equipment.
10. Maintain COSHH stores, registers, and assessments.
11. Implement spill prevention and control measures.
12. Complete and submit monthly HSE reports to clients and management.
13. Oversee high-risk and complex works and review temporary works arrangements.
14. Ensure designated areas for cutting, refuelling, and wash-out are operational and compliant.
15. Support compliance with relevant legislation such as LOLER, PUWER, CDM, HASAWA, etc.
16. Create safety alerts and toolbox talks aligned with industry standards and seasonal/weather changes, maintaining signed returns records.
17. Assist in creating and reviewing organizational policies and procedures annually.
18. Attend site briefings and manage the site training and competency matrix, ensuring all documentation is current and accurate.
19. Stay updated on legislative changes and recommend updates as necessary.
20. Support ISO certification maintenance through the company management system.
21. Manage sub-contractor PQQs and review RAMS for effectiveness and compliance.
22. Conduct incident investigations, RIDDOR reports, and near-miss reports, including witness interviews and evidence compilation.
23. Research industry best practices to improve safety performance and efficiency.
24. Conduct HAVS assessments and maintain an up-to-date register.
25. Perform other ad hoc health, safety, environmental, and quality duties as required.
26. Provide general support to colleagues on site and across the business.
27. Act as the company’s Mental Health Awareness champion, promoting wellbeing.
28. Perform any other tasks reasonably requested by senior management.
Qualifications
* NEBOSH (Construction or General)
* CSCS Card
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
