The Vacancy

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Finance department as a Power BI Analyst in our Glasgow Office.

*We are open to considering candidates on a part time or full-time basis*

What will your role look like?

As a Power BI Analyst, you’ll work closely with Finance and other key stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain insightful Power BI dashboards and reports. You’ll be responsible for gathering and documenting requirements, managing data sources, and delivering high-quality reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:

1. Design and build Power BI dashboards and reports using a variety of on-premise and cloud-based data sources.
2. Translate business requirements into effective data visualisations and reporting solutions.
3. Maintain and optimise the data warehouse and SQL data models that support Power BI.
4. Collaborate with data engineers to ensure the data warehouse is up to date and fit for purpose.
5. Engage with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide tailored reporting solutions.
6. Conduct unit testing and troubleshoot data or reporting issues.
7. Promote the adoption of Power BI across the business and support end users.
8. Act as a subject matter expert in data reporting best practices.
9. Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are upheld.
10. Contribute to the roadmap for management information (MI) and reporting development.
11. Provide training and share knowledge with colleagues to build internal capability.
12. Work with other Power BI users across the firm to enhance our reporting approach.
13. Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and user guides.
14. Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies.

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:

15. Proven experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports.
16. Strong SQL querying and DAX skills, with a deep understanding of data modelling (e.g. star schema).
17. Excellent data visualisation and storytelling capabilities.
18. Experience with data models, integration techniques, data mining, and database design.
19. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
20. Ability to manage relationships and influence stakeholders across the business.
21. A genuine interest in coding and data analysis.
22. Self-motivated with a drive to identify opportunities and deliver improvements.

Desirable

23. Experience with Power BI Report Builder (Paginated Reports).
24. Microsoft Certified Data Analyst (or working towards).
25. Background in finance systems or working within a finance team.

We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support.

In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:

26. A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
27. A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
28. On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
29. A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
30. Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
31. Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments – with the expectation of two ‘in-office’ days per week.
32. A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

Please note, we recruit on a rolling basis so early applications are recommended to avoid disappointment.
