You will work closely with parents and families using the FiCare model, alongside a diverse team including Neonatal Consultants, Nurses, and other AHPs to ensure the best outcomes for our neonatal patients and their families. This role offers an exciting leadership opportunity, combining operational and clinical responsibilities. You will play a key role in service development and audit processes, contributing to early intervention and making a significant difference in infants' and families' lives.
Occupational Therapists promote infant neurodevelopment on the neonatal unit by enabling parents and caregivers to provide individualized, developmentally supportive care. They adapt the environment to promote optimal sensory experiences for brain development and support the parent-infant relationship by helping parents understand their infants' behavioral cues and signs of stress. Therapists work with parents to help infants regulate their neuro-behavioral systems, facilitating participation in caregiving activities.
Using specialist assessments and early interventions focused on sensory, motor, attention, regulation, and play development, occupational therapists help infants reach their developmental potential. This includes supporting participation in activities such as sleeping, eating, and early interaction, which are crucial for health and development.
Working with us provides opportunities for professional growth, learning new skills, and making a meaningful impact. You will be part of a supportive environment that encourages development and innovation, centered around patient care and enhancing patient experiences.
Key duties include:
1. Supporting the delivery of Occupational Therapy to patients.
2. Collaborating with core therapies and children's service stakeholders.
3. Supporting service development and planning.
4. Managing your own caseload based on clinical needs.
5. Recording assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans clearly in patient notes.
6. Demonstrating advanced assessment and treatment skills.
7. Providing leadership and management support.
