About Wimborne:
Are you ready to lead and shape the future of engineering projects? Eaton’s Wimborne site is seeking a passionate Senior Project Engineer to join our Actuation Team. In this role, you’ll bridge the gap between our customers and Eaton’s multidisciplinary technical teams, driving innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.
This position would be suitable for someone with Mid to Senior level experience.
What you’ll do:
1. Lead Projects: Take charge of small to medium projects or key sections of larger initiatives, including proposals, new product introductions, and modifications/upgrades to in-service products.
2. Plan & Coordinate: Develop engineering plans, working alongside other functions and project management, manage tasks, and ensure milestone success by engaging cross-functional teams like airworthiness and safety.
3. Collaborate: Serve as the technical interface with customers, ensuring solutions meet expectations and translating those requirements internally.
4. Drive Excellence: Be involved with all system lifecycle stages—requirements, design, development, integration, verification, and qualification.
5. Mitigate Risks: Manage technical risks and opportunities, ensuring system integrity and design traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
6. Support Growth: Mentor apprentices and junior staff, manage engineering change, and work closely with leadership to ensure projects are well-resourced.
Qualifications:
Degree in a relevant engineering field (HNC/apprenticeship with equivalent experience also considered). Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
You will have experience in one or more of the following - mechanical, electro mechanical, fluid, mechanisms, structures or systems product development.
You will hold an engineering degree or equivalent with at least 5 years experience.
Skills:
1. Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders.
2. Self-motivated problem solver with a proactive approach to challenges.
3. Proficiency in engineering lifecycles, technical report writing, and design reviews.
4. Comfortable presenting technical content at all levels within the business. Experience with project scheduling and, ideally, prior engineering document sign-off.
