Thalia Waste Management is looking for a Procurement Manager to oversee procurement activities at our site at Allerton Waste Recovery Park (HG5 0SD). The role will focus on ensuring alignment with Thalia's overarching strategy while optimising costs, reducing risks, and improving supplier performance. This role will manage both routine site procurement and project-based procurement, including maintenance shutdowns, and will work closely with stakeholders to secure high-value, high-risk procurement while ensuring compliance with company policies. Hybrid role split between site and remote working 10% annual bonus scheme, up to 8% contributory pension, private medical cover, company car / car allowance (£493 per month), 25 days annual leave Key Responsibilities Manage all third-party procurement spend at assigned site(s). Build strong relationships with Account Directors, Plant Operations, and Maintenance Managers to support operational and capital procurement. Ensure procurement policies and processes are followed to minimise risks and drive cost-effectiveness. Oversee procurement for maintenance and engineering projects, including shutdowns and capital investments. Conduct tendering, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and implementation. Work closely with Category Managers to align site-level procurement with strategic sourcing goals. Support the management of key procurement categories, including engineering and technical procurement, non-engineering procurement, and site-specific services. Provide spend analysis and cost-saving initiatives, targeting savings on site procurement. Monitor and improve supplier performance, ensuring contract compliance and service delivery. Mitigate supply chain risks and ensure compliance with procurement regulations and ethical standards. What We Are Looking For Qualifications Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). CIPS qualification (or working towards) preferred. Additional training in contract law, supplier management, or project procurement is advantageous. Skills and Experience Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Experience managing procurement for CAPEX projects and technical services. Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously. Experience working in procurement within engineering, construction, waste, or energy sectors (desirable).
