 
        
        As the Availability Optimisation Technical Lead you will be part of the team charged with improving Submarine availability. To do this you will work with other engineering departments, dockyard staff (e.g., site offices) and ships staff to identify opportunities in the defined maintenance, methods of execution and emergent defects with the objective of reducing the net burden of reactor plant and Submarine maintenance. You will be the point of contact between the MoD and Rolls‑Royce departments to enable the technical development of proposals and will act as the technical customer for work conducted by engineering teams across the business. The role is within the Services Availability Centre, a team focused on offering a combination of responsive issue support and optimised maintenance management to deliver first‑class support to the Submarines enterprise to maximise and improve the availability of Royal Navy submarines. We keep safe submarines at sea.
Responsibilities
 * Be a technical integration lead (technical customer) for delivery of availability improvement projects. Working with engineering teams to lead the delivery of projects.
 * Working closely with the customer and colleagues across the submarine enterprise to identify, prioritise, and co‑ordinate the delivery of opportunities to improve NSRP and where possible wider Submarine systems availability and optimise maintenance.
 * Taking a proactive approach to improving availability and prioritising the delivery of targeted ideas in time to improve 'pinch points'.
 * Acting as a champion across the enterprise for improving availability, including promoting collaboration and communication.
 * Providing technical direction to peers and more junior professionals.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to improve their depth and/or breadth of knowledge of NSRP and wider Submarine systems, components and maintenance.
A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the Rolls‑Royce behaviours which form an essential part of our assessment process. You will also need to:

 * Have a technical background (e.g., an engineering/science degree or strong equivalent experience gained over time), ideally with a basic working knowledge of a nuclear plant.

 * Be able to understand complex problems and make accurate decisions and recommendations.
 * Understand design and technical governance processes.
 * Have good communications and stakeholder management skills, both verbal and written.
