Up To £60,000 Per Year For An Experienced Candidate
Are you an experienced asbestos professional with a strong background in nuclear site operations? We're seeking a Lead Asbestos Competent Person to play a critical role in ensuring full compliance with asbestos regulations and nuclear site standards across a high-profile UK nuclear facility.
This is a key leadership position for someone who is already familiar with nuclear site operations and asbestos technical processes.
Requirements
What will you be doing?
* Fulfil duties under Regulation 4 of CAR 2012, ensuring asbestos compliance across the Principal Contractor (PC) area.
* Maintain alignment with NRS standards (S-267, S-424, S-482), HSE guidance, British Standards, and company procedures.
* Manage and update the Site Asbestos Register (SAR), including risk assessments (MRA & PRA)
* Oversee asbestos Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Plans of Work
* Define scopes for asbestos removal/remediation and ensure project alignment with documentation requirements
* Lead pre-job briefs, and verify subcontractor emergency/contingency plans
* Develop and maintain the site's Asbestos Management Plan (AMP)
* Supervise asbestos works and collaborate with subcontractors and site management
* Approve operational arrangements and act as Site Client for analytical services
* Produce scope documents for analytical and survey requirements (HPA VRP P2)
* Review tenders for asbestos risks and support safety audits/inspections
* Coordinate with Site and Project Managers to ensure smooth and compliant project delivery
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in asbestos management within nuclear or highly regulated environments
* Strong understanding of CAR 2012, NRS standards, and CDM arrangements
* Demonstrated leadership in overseeing asbestos operations, safety compliance, and contractor management
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and reporting skills
