Projects will largely be new build and refurbishment projects with a strong emphasis on residential sector developments.
As a Clerk of Works, you will need to demonstrate the ability to undertake instructions related to building works in progress on new build residential sites. A good knowledge of current Building Regulations and Warranty provider standards is essential.
This role covers the East Midlands area, and suitable candidates should ideally reside within this region.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Act as the principal point of contact with the social housing client regarding construction quality on site.
* Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues early and ensure stakeholder satisfaction with the quality of the construction process and the final social housing product.
* Manage multiple social housing projects simultaneously, employing excellent time management strategies to ensure efficient operations by yourself and team members.
* Visit multiple sites regularly using the provided company car.
* Provide the Administration team with detailed reports and photographs after each site inspection for timely reporting and follow-up actions.
* Possess a good understanding of the building and housing industry, with basic technical and construction awareness, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements.
* Maintain good communication skills and a diplomatic manner to establish and sustain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Experience in a similar role, such as Clerk of Works, Employers Agent, Building Control/Warranty Inspector, or Site Manager.
* Previous work with social housing organizations, consultancies, contractors, or housebuilders is highly desirable.
* Good knowledge of building regulations and the ability to interpret construction drawings.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Outlook, Excel).
* Effective communication skills at all levels.
* Great attention to detail.
* Strong client-facing skills, with demonstrable experience preferred.
