Consultant Addictions Psychiatrist

We are looking for a consultant psychiatrist to provide leadership, expert advice and direction to ensure that service users consistently receive high-quality services that adhere to best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical assessment, including psychiatric and physical investigations, of a wide range of substance misusers presenting to the service.
* Operate within guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to the post.
* Conduct phlebotomy tests and support nursing team to ensure maximum testing for BBVs and Hepatitis A and B vaccination.
* Attend multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
* Participate in continuing professional development, annual appraisal, revalidation and join appropriate supervision and PDP groups.
* Work in partnership with users and carers to empower them to make decisions about their treatment and care.
* Remain up to date on professional developments as required by the professional body.
Qualifications
* Medical Degree, completion of Basic Medical Training and Full GMC UK Registration with licence to practice.
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
* Good knowledge of addiction psychiatry and relevant mental health legislation.
* An understanding of the work of other agencies, including non-statutory services.
* Experience working with substance misuse and mental health issues, and ability to deliver quality services.
* Capacity to work independently and keep calm under pressure.
What We Offer
* Salary: £138,714.28 – £149,713.64 (pro‑rated for part‑time hours). Inner London weighting: £4,133.14.
* Location: Tower Hamlets.
* Contract Type: Fixed term until 18th January 2027.
* Part‑time hours: 22.5 per week (pro‑rated salary).
* Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays, with an extra day for each year of service up to five years (30 days after five years).
