Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
Role
The shift pattern for this post has yet to be confirmed. This is a fixed term or secondment for 12 months initially which will then be reviewed to become a nurse team lead within Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS). The post will have line management responsibility for the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team within the service whilst contributing to wider ADRS team development and key functions of the service. This includes implementation and delivery of local and national guidelines such as The Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Standards and Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GG&C) Alcohol Recovery Pathway in line with Inverclyde HSCP and the Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
The post holder is required to undertake management and line management responsibilities of staff with overall responsibility for monitoring nursing activity related to the liaison service key performance indicators and meet the ambitions of the NHSGGC Acute Addiction Action Plan. Has lead responsibility for profession specific clinical governance activity and monitoring which includes care assurance; standards compliance; professional regulation; responding to complaints; staff governance; Clinical Supervision; Line Management Supervision; legislative frameworks; national and board policy/guidelines implementation.
About the ADRS Addiction Liaison Outreach Team
The ADRS Addiction Liaison Outreach Team assesses the nature and degree of alcohol and drug use experienced by patients in a variety of areas. The team works in partnership with hospital medical, nursing and AHP teams, community alcohol and drug recovery services and a wide range of statutory and non-statutory services to support care and treatment within an acute and psychiatric hospital setting. The team also provides an assertive outreach response to high-risk, hard-to-reach individuals finding it difficult to engage in treatment. This includes a non-fatal overdose response and pathway with the Scottish Ambulance Service, third sector organisations and local HSCP services and support to Primary Care.
