The Role & Key Responsibilities
*Surrey and Sussex Police do not currently have a working from home policy. We expect the successful candidate to attend HQ, which can be either Guildford (Surrey) or Lewes (Sussex).*
*As Surrey and Sussex Police are a collaborative force, this role may require working from both headquarters. Your line manager will inform you in advance if needed.*
Provide finance transactional administration services, undertaking a range of administrative processes on the appropriate systems and other programs. Fully participate in transactional finance services including filing, record maintenance, data entry, scanning, etc.
Perform reconciliations as instructed for the relevant finance functions to an auditable standard.
Initially resolve queries; if unresolved, escalate issues to the Assistant or Team Leader or other finance areas for support.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of processes, procedures, and work instructions aligned with best practices and organizational priorities. Support the development of best practices in system use.
Assist in training new staff and supporting their development.
Undertake data cleansing and record maintenance, ensuring information is current and accessible, and perform housekeeping duties on the electronic finance system.
Analyze expenditure areas, investigate anomalies, and recommend remedial actions.
Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work, including similar or lower graded tasks.
Skills & Experience
Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) in English, Maths, and ICT.
Associated Account Technical (AAT) qualification or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a finance/admin environment.
Good understanding of end-to-end processes in accounts payable, receivable, purchasing, and income.
Experience in process improvement and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills to handle challenging issues with vendors, suppliers, and stakeholders, with the ability to influence change.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage diverse workloads.
Customer service mindset with a focus on exceeding stakeholder expectations.
Ability to collaborate across functions to influence outcomes and act as a finance ambassador within the wider organization.
Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
