We want to do more and have hugely ambitious plans to regenerate our communities, build new homes, develop Smarter Homes, create employment, attract investment to North Lanarkshire, prevent homelessness and sustain tenancies.\n\nThe post will be based within the New Supply Team within Place. You will join the team based in Motherwell Civic Centre and will assist with the on site monitoring and inspection of the councilâs new build housing programme.\n\nNorth Lanarkshire Councilâs traineeship in Clerk of Works is designed for individuals who want to pursue a career in Construction Site Supervision and Building Inspection. As a Trainee you will receive formal training in addition to on the job training to enable you to gain the skills and qualifications needed to drive our Ambition forward.\n\nWe will fund your study at Edinburgh Napier University or another appropriate College/University on either a block or day release basis with the aim being to ultimately attain a degree in Construction and the Built Environment (Building Surveying). You will be provided with time off to attend University, study time and you will also be supported by a university and work placed mentor. This is a great opportunity to earn a salary immediately whilst you are studying and there is no cost to you for the training you will receive.\n\nYou will be joining a Service which strives for excellence in service delivery and works well with partners, including our joint venture companies. You will assist in a multi-disciplinary environment and your duties will include providing support with on site inspections, health and safety monitoring, weekly reports, liaising with contractors and sub contractors, and reviewing drawings and specifications. Your excellent communication skills and proactive, customer-focussed approach will ensure you provide a professional service to project managers, surveyors, developers and other customers.\n\nThis post represents an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual aged 16 years and over with the necessary entry requirements for the relevant career pathway. As a Graduate Apprentice you will study for your degree alongside your job, spending approximately 80% of your time in work and 20% in university. This unique combination offers an integrated experience, where practical skills and knowledge gained during the university days can be embedded in your working practices. Skills learned directly in the workplace are aligned with and can be applied to coursework and assessment. This allows you to attain an honours degree in 4 years, the same time as traditional full-time students. \n\nYou will study on a Graduate Apprenticeship degree programme towards a BSc (Hons) Construction & the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University. \n\nBuilding Surveying - involves advising on many aspects of building construction and design for new and existing buildings. Building Surveyors advise on a range of things including maintenance and repairs, restoration and refurbishment, and they provide expert assessments and reports on all kinds of buildings. To meet our Standard Entry Requirements you must have EITHER: \n\n- A minimum of four SQA Highers at Grade BBCC (including Maths) plus Nat 5 English at B \n- A Foundation Apprenticeship in a related discipline plus suitable academic qualifications \n- A Modern Apprenticeship or college qualification in in a related discipline\u202F \n- Sufficient recognition of prior learning (RPL) through industry-related experience, qualifications, and informal learning. RPL applications are considered on an individual basis \n- You must be able to provide proof of any qualifications stated on your CV to meet university entry requirements. \n\nAdvanced entry into Year 2 or 3 is possible for students with suitable qualifications. If applying for advanced entry, you will need to provide sufficient evidence of qualifications and experience through our process of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
