Role Summary
We are looking to recruit a high calibre Accountant to join our Finance Operations team based in Cardiff with some flexibility i.e. hybrid working. The role will sit in the Capital and Leasing team with a focus on Capital accounting.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintenance of the Fixed asset register – including changes to locations, asset owners, disposals and write‑offs, impairments.
* Aged AUC reviews and depreciation reviews – confirming charges allocated correctly and values correct.
* Performing asset verification – either via physical site visits or Teams meetings, to confirm assets in use.
* Undertake impairment reviews of assets.
* Attend Project Review Meetings – provide SME advice on accounting treatment.
* Contribute to reporting processes – ensuring financial position & performance understood and key issues rectified, appropriate process observed with control over sub‑ledgers and integration with GL.
* Manage accurate recording of transactions in ERP GL – ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls; improve efficiency and controls of financial processes.
* Support efficient delivery of internal & external audits – including preparation of annual reports and other external reporting requirements.
* Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders – outsourced partners, other finance teams, divisional & group stakeholders.
* Document and implement accounting judgments in accordance with BBC policy & accounting standards.
* Compile and review balance sheet reconciliations – supported by appropriate testing, ensuring full compliance with internal controls and minimum expected requirements.
* Provide professional financial support to stakeholders – effective control of financial processes and delivering operational excellence.
Qualifications
* Hold a professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
* Significant experience of delivering high‑quality accounting service.
* Experience of accounting for capital projects / working within a capital accounting team highly beneficial.
* Possess highly developed communication skills with ability to influence.
* Ability to take complex data/principles and communicate them understandably to wider BBC team, both finance and non‑finance.
* Knowledge of theory and practical application of accounting principles and controls.
* Advanced Excel and modelling skills, in relation to key finance information.
* Strong planning and organisation skills with ability to prioritise workload effectively.
