About TEP
We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our team. Based predominantly from Leeds, you will join an experienced team who install, remove and relocate a wide variety of machinery across the UK.
The priority for the Mechanic is to carry out maintenance and repair of our fleet of 2T - 16T Hyster Forklifts in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner. The role will be varied day to day, and includes servicing and repair of FLTs, HGVs and Company Vehicles, driving HGVs, working with cranes and specialist lifting equipment, loading and unloading equipment, and general yard maintenance. The role will involve travel to customer sites.
We are looking for a competent individual who can adopt a flexible approach to work in order that priorities and customer deadlines may be met. We are looking for someone who is happy to get involved with the team, including driving FLTs and HGVs and assisting on site when required. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and committed individual, highly motivated in meeting the needs of both the employer and the customer.
Depending on the individual job location there may be overnight stays and occasional weekends working as required, offering regular overtime opportunities. A flexible and adaptable approach to work; the role involves early starts, late finishes, occasional weekends and nights out. (We provide hotels / accommodation for all overnight stays, with meals paid for.)
Key accountabilities and deliverables:
* Conduct routine maintenance and repairs of Hyster Forklifts as well as various types of machinery and equipment including HGVs and Company vehicles.
* Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals.
* Weld and fabricate components as necessary to ensure equipment functionality.
* Perform electrical repairs, including soldering and wiring tasks.
* Assemble machinery parts and ensure proper installation for optimal performance.
* Operate Forklifts and other equipment safely while performing repairs or moving materials.
* Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
* Assist in rigging and slinging tasks when required for equipment installation or removal.
* Driving a low loader trailer.
* Transporting TEP plant including heavy forklifts, mini cranes and scissor lifts.
* Conducting pre- and post-route vehicle checks.
* Adhering to road safety regulations and Company policies.
* Ensuring timely delivery of goods and communicating any issues/delays.
Requirements
* Proven previous experience as a Mechanic working on Hyster Forklifts.
* Knowledge and experience of chaining heavy plant is a bonus.
* Able to act with courtesy and professionalism at all times.
* Able to operate with physically demanding effort such as walking, kneeling, bending, pulling, pushing, lifting and carrying.
* The post holder will work normally within the workshop but is frequently required to undertake site repairs across the UK in all weathers.
* Must have a Full UK Driving Licence
