About our group:
• The Manufacturing Execution Systems Group (MES) is responsible for managing and synchronizing the physical processes involved in the manufacturing of thin film heads used in computer hard drives as part of the Global Wafer Systems Group.
• It is a highly technical team responsible for the design, development, and deployment of systems for RHG Wafer organization's systems initiatives.
• It is committed to leveraging emerging technologies, including Generative AI (GenAI), to continuously improve manufacturing processes, data-driven decision making, and operational excellence.
• The Wafer teams in Seagate are in Northern Ireland and the US with significant collaboration between the teams.
• With a portfolio that includes MES (Manufacturing Execution), FCS (Factory Controls), FIS (Factory Information), Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered solutions, best in class visualizations, and rapid deployment. The team has won industry awards for its innovation, best in class systems, and value delivery.
About the role - you will:
• Lead strategic and tactical projects and deliverables to design, deploy, and enhance the MES systems.
• Create automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and process yield using professionally accepted engineering techniques, practices, and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to identify and understand their challenges and opportunities. Then work with those teams to implement and scale changes and enhancements. This collaboration includes process engineering, wafer operations, factory control systems, and the global IT support teams to drive best practices across the organizations.
• Support the MES applications with day-to-day activities as well as during upgrades to the applications and supporting infrastructure.
About you:
• Computer Science/Statistics/Applied Mathematics/Engineering, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Working across departments to solve complex problems
• Concurrently supporting multiple projects and customers
• An aptitude and interest for learning systems development
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated willingness to share knowledge and learn new techniques, including exploring, piloting, or implementing GenAI-driven solutions to solve business or technical challenges.
• Work with the Global Factory IT Team to drive transformation through the strategic adoption and adaptation of AI solutions, aiming to develop improved MES services more efficiently.
• Engage with the Seagate-wide AI-Forward Collective for enterprise-wide AI adoption to identify opportunities for MES
Your experience includes:
• Experience using statistical analysis programs
• Knowledge and application of Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Knowledge and application of Visual Programming Language / Workflow programming
You might also have:
• Wafer fabrication
• Lean manufacturing
• Experience of RDBMS Oracle PL/SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Programming skills with Python, R, JavaScript, SQL, Java, MATLAB.
• Knowledge in machine learning algorithms applicable for predictive tasks
• Familiarity with any cloud computing platform is valuable (e.g., Azure, GCP, Databricks, AWS, Snowflake)

This is a Full-Time position working 39 hours per week.
