Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist

The Speech and Language Team staff form part of an MDT and frequently work in joint clinics with OT, PT and dietetics offering an holistic programme of support to families to ensure all the child's needs are met in a timely and efficient way.
Main duties of the job
To work with children and young people (aged 0-19) in both our early years clinic and within mainstream schools in the Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey area.
Keen to explore other specialisms including complex needs.
* This is a fixed term, full time post but we are happy to consider flexible working proposals.

MCH is considering merging with Kent Community Health Foundation Trust (KCHFT). If the merger goes ahead, the proposed transfer date is 30th September 2026 and this role will be subject to TUPE transfer to KCHFT.
Job responsibilities
Key responsibilities
* Diagnosing and assessing children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
* Delivering therapy for a range of children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
* Designing, monitoring and evaluating targets and plans for children.
* Delivering parent education through workshops.
* Providing specialist advice and support to parents, teachers and other professionals.

* You will be required to travel between the clinic, nurseries and schools and must be able to do so in a timely manner.
* This position is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Qualifications
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
* Registered with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* License to Practice Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Experience
* Experience of wide range of clinical settings and communication difficulties at undergraduate/post graduate level.
* Experience of working in paediatrics at undergraduate/post graduate level.
* Experience of managing a caseload.
Skills
* Experience of using Microsoft Office Programmes including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Experience of using electronic notes.
Knowledge
* Well established knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client group.
* Well established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group.
* Member of clinical excellence group (CEN) and or Post graduate training in relevant areas.
