To provide Abortion and Sexual Health information, pre‑treatment assessment and treatment to patients in a supportive manner, in accordance with NMC Guidelines for Professional Practice, the Abortion Act 1967, the Health & Social Care Act 2008, Policies, Procedures and Quality Standards.
Line management of other clinicians involved in the provision of the service at the unit, and act as ‘person in charge’ in the absence of the Unit Manager.
Provide cross‑cover with the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) Lead Nurse in times of absence.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for delivery of holistic, high‑quality, evidence‑based care to patients accessing the gynaecology and early pregnancy services on the Women’s Health Unit. Must work without direct supervision and undertake clinical procedures and extended roles as indicated by service needs. Support and training will be provided where required.
The post holder will work autonomously and as part of the multi‑professional team.

Person specification
Qualifications and training
* Registered Adult Nurse level 1 or Registered Midwife (practicing)
* Active NMC registration with PIN
* Counselling skills
Experience
* Working to guidelines, policies & procedures
* Ensuring informed consent to treatment is maintained
* Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant specialty such as sexual health, contraception
* Venepuncture
* Experience of nurse admissions and discharges
* Experience of completing audits and guideline development
* Education development and teaching
* Service development and change management

* Awareness of the Abortion Act (training given)
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements related to this role
