Job summary: Post holder will be able to assist in the daily planning and organisation of the recovery area for clinical procedures of the post surgical patient. Post holder will be expected to recover patients providing individualised care and maintaining a high quality evidence based clinical care. Monitor and maintain the quality of nursing care achieving the set standards set by the department.
Main duties of the job: Receiving patients from Theatre and ensuring a complete and safe handover is given by Anaesthetist/Theatre staff. Ensuring airway management is maintained and all observations are within acceptable ranges. Pain management and control using appropriate analgesia when required. Temperature monitoring and intervention when required. Administration of all prescribed drugs including controlled drugs.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications Essential:
* RGN/RN- Diploma / Degree in Operating Department Practitioner.
* Proof of Registration with NMC (nurses)
Desirable:
* ENB 998 or recognised equivalent.
* Recent experience working within theatres as a recovery practitioner.
Skills & Abilities Essential:
* Able to work under minimum supervision.
* Able to work as a team member.
* Able to manage learners.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Prioritisation skills
* Competence on a range of skills and any additional training undertaken
* Experience in a theatre setting.
* Good knowledge of all specialties
