A specialist Bank are looking for a Group Head of First Line Risk Assurance to play a key role in their modernisation piece… and what a company to join!
This challenger bank supports underserved segments of the mortgage market and have done for over a century! Their team of experts deliver specialist lending and retail savings through their industry leading brands - the teams are close knit; management is open and transparent, and they hire passionate people who want to make a difference.
They are going through a huge modernisation & transformation project (currently on month 12 of a 5 year plan) and investing heavily in all areas of the business from their IT systems, data and suppliers to platforms, products and most importantly, their people to make sure they can be that driving force within the Mortgage and Savings world.
Anyway, the role!
This is a brand-new role for the bank, and you will be the banks modernisation assurance technical specialist through a first line one and a half model, which will involve taking the lead with key stakeholders across the group to ensure clear understanding of controls across departments. You will play a key part in defining the risk and control framework for sustaining “the modernised bank” and how it interfaces with the existing BAU processes / projects (IRB / IFRS9 / SCV / Reg Reporting / Consumer Duty)
This will be an operational and standalone role to begin with, however you will work with the Chief Transformation Officer to delivery on this area, put a strategy in place and grow the team how you seem fit. You will be given the autonomy and flexibility to make this role your own and really help the bank be that driving force in the lending world.
Main responsibilities will include:
* Being that Risk Champion for your function. Work alongside the Risk function in developing and maintaining a risk management agenda, acting both to ensure the necessary levels of transparency for potential risks and promoting a positive culture of awareness and accountability throughout your area.
* Using your subject matter expertise to design and implement the risk and control framework relating to setting up “the modernised bank” and aligning this to the enterprise risk framework.
* Being accountable for ensuring all risks and controls are clearly identified, understood, owned, and managed by the various stakeholders.
* Owning the design and development of various BAU elements such as policies and procedures, process maps/service blueprints, RCSAs, and KRIs
* Representing Modernisation at all applicable committees, forums, and working groups and present where necessary to the ExCo and Board.
So, if you have experience in:
* Designing, writing and implementing procedures, frameworks, controls and policies and leading transformation in a regulated risk environment
* A senior risk or audit advisory role in financial services/regulated sector
* Implementing of an operational risk framework including (risk appetite, RCSA, incident management, risk reporting)
* Understanding of role of first and second in the new control environment (sustain)
* First line of defence one and a half model
* Risk governance practices
* Creating and developing papers for committees
