Product Development Engineer
Glascoed Based
£37.57 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35
12 Month Contract initially
Responsibilities
1. Assisting product development and systems engineering activities for new products
2. Coordination of product development and related engineering activities
3. Configuration and maintenance of Engineering bills of materials for products
4. Product development and evaluation e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
5. Manufacture, test and evaluation of munitions products
6. Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner - from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data
7. Development and use safe systems of work
8. Development of quality systems
9. Management of stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure that development activities are completed to time and schedule
10. Contribution to the Life Cycle Management Process where required
11. Contribution to the Risk Management process
12. Liaise with customers as demanded
13. Working as part of an integrated project team, with regular engagement across other functions; including project management, procurement (supply chain) and commercial
Competencies, Skills and Qualifications
* Essential
o Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar Engineering discipline)
o Available for immediate start
o Applicants must be able to demonstrate a proven capability in development projects, in particular system integration
o Proven ability to take ownership, prioritise and deliver product Engineering tasks within development projects to ensure completion within agreed timescales and to required standard
o Ability to produce high quality technical reports
o A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and strong IT skills
o A good understanding of project/risk management and the ability to use associated tools and techniques
o Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and models
* Desirable
o Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering with proof of experience in developing complex electro-mechanical systems
o Product development experience in the Engineering industry
o Chartered Engineer or Membership with appropriate Engineering Institution
o Knowledge and experience of munition design and manufacture
o Experience of product test and evaluation activities
o Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process
o A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design
o Working knowledge of Risk Management
o Awareness of relevant manufacturing technologies and processes
o Current valid UK Security Clearance to SC level or higher
