Site Agent (Contract) - UK Civil Business Unit
Role
We are recruiting for a Freelance Site Agent to join our £100m+ civil engineering scheme at York Central. The scheme involves the design and construction of bridges, highways, retaining walls, new railway sections, utilities network, drainage works, and temporary car parks or our York station frontage works. You will be responsible for the overall day-to-day supervision of the construction site. You will monitor the preparation of the site prior to project launch and oversee the safe and efficient operation of the site throughout the construction phase. The contract will last 9 months.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in compiling the initial programme and maintain awareness of weekly targets.
* Plan and oversee the site setup, ensuring facilities are in place prior to project launch.
* Manage relationships with subcontractors onsite.
* Ensure adherence to HSEQS protocols at all times.
* Maintain quality control procedures.
* Ensure the TWR is in place and up to date.
* Monitor onsite energy and waste data.
* Ensure an efficient registration system for all individuals entering and leaving the site.
* Flag issues with Contract Management/Commercial Teams that could impact project delivery.
* Drive project pace and plan work in the field.
* Coordinate and prioritize site activities.
* Manage a team of foremen and site staff.
* Lead whiteboard meetings.
* Ensure all employees follow protocols during onsite incidents.
* Relate company commercial strategy to own activities.
* Operate the site with a holistic ‘cradle to grave’ project management approach.
* Communicate site requirements to the commercial team for economical solutions.
* Drive the project programme.
* Delegate responsibilities to suitable staff.
* Manage and record relevant contemporaneous records.
* Follow the PEP to ensure work is on time and on budget.
Experience & Skills
* Strong People Management experience.
* Knowledge of good industrial relations practices.
* Ability to handle conflicting priorities and difficult stakeholders, especially subcontractors.
* Excellent communication skills, adaptable to audience.
* Ability to build consensus.
* Strong people skills for supervising subcontractors.
* Over ten years’ experience across various sectoral projects.
* Experience leading teams and delivering medium to large-scale projects.
* Ability to prioritize and make prompt decisions.
* Comprehensive knowledge of trades, codes of practice, and site requirements.
* Experience building credibility with contractors through respectful treatment.
