Main duties of the job
* Medical audio transcription of clinical correspondence
* Carry out administrative instructions dictated in the correspondence including booking appointments via the Booking and Scheduling Department
* Update NPSA16 investigation tracker following transcription of correspondence
* Deal with internal and external telephone enquiries from patients, staff and external agencies
* Undertake routine office duties including printing, scanning and filing
* Organising your workload to meet our KPI's

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Word processing – Qualified to RSA III/NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification/demonstrable skills (60+ wpm at 98% accuracy)
* AMSPAR Medical Secretarial Diploma
* City and Guilds Certificate in Medical Terminology, or equivalent demonstrable skills/experience
Skills
* Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
* Advanced keyboard skills
* Proven organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload with interruptions and changing priorities
* Good command and understanding of English, punctuation and grammar
Experience
* Experience of audio typing
* Experience of using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
* Experience of successfully working within tight time frames and to deadlines
* Experience of providing secretarial services in a hospital environment
* Experience of medical audio typing
* Experience of using digital dictation systems
Knowledge
* Understanding of the Data Protection
* Knowledge of medical terminology within more than one specialty
