Position Overview
A well-established, privately owned consultancy of Fire Engineering specialists, Building Services Engineers, and Project Managers is seeking an Associate Director Fire Engineering to lead and develop their Fire Engineering team. With a strong UK and international client base, the leadership team remains actively involved in both project delivery and business direction.
Role
The Associate Director Fire Engineering will take ownership of the Fire Engineering function, driving performance, quality and growth. Responsibilities include:
* Managing workload, profitability and resource planning.
* Working closely with senior leadership to define business strategy.
* Building and maintaining key client relationships.
* Leading bid submissions and representing the business at industry events and client engagements.
* Overseeing delivery of complex fire engineering projects, ensuring technical robustness, commercial soundness and compliance with legislation (Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 7974).
* Acting as a senior technical authority, reviewing and signing off fire strategies and related deliverables.
* Providing expert input on smoke control, façade systems and structural fire engineering.
* Maintaining high internal quality standards and supporting ISO‑compliant processes.
* Mentoring, managing and developing staff through structured guidance and performance oversight.
* Supporting recruitment and fostering a collaborative, high‑performing environment across disciplines.
Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural or similar engineering.
* Postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) and full IFE membership.
* Minimum 10 years’ UK fire engineering experience.
* Proven leadership in project delivery, team management and client development.
