Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician/Mechanic to join the Tilson Scaffolding team. Working in and developing our own onsite workshop under their own initiative. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair small vans up to heavy goods vehicles efficiently. This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality while providing exceptional customer service. We will still outsource any major repairs if required. The main role is maintain and repair our fleet of around 50 vehicles on daily basis.
Duties
* Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on all fleet vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
* Diagnose faults using schematics and technical manuals to ensure accurate repairs.
* Perform small welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
* Carry out minor electrical repairs.
* Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform repairs and maintenance effectively.
* Assist in the assembly of vehicle components, ensuring all parts meet quality standards.
* Repair and maintain associated equipment such as forklifts.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed and communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs and services required.
* Engage in heavy lifting as necessary to support vehicle maintenance activities.
Experience
The successful candidate will have:
* Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in car and HGV maintenance and repair.
* Familiarity with electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
* Skills in fabrication, soldering, welding, and assembly processes.
* Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment relevant to HGVs.
* A strong commitment to safety practices within a workshop environment.
