Job Title: National Grid Competent Person (Civil Operative - NSI 6 & 8)

Hours: 07:30 - 17:30 (Approx. 45 hours per week)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35 (PAYE or Umbrella only)
The Role
We are currently recruiting an experienced Competent Person / Civil Operative to support works on a live substation project at National Grid Pembroke Substation. This is a key role within the site team, responsible for ensuring safe access and operational control within a live HV substation environment, working in line with National Grid safety rules and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as Competent Person in accordance with National Grid NSI 6 & 8 Safety Rules
* Manage safe access and egress of personnel, plant and delivery vehicles within the substation
* Ensure all works are carried out in line with HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services)
* Support civil works on site in line with ground worker responsibilities
* Maintain strict compliance with site safety procedures, permits and authorisations
* Liaise with site management and project teams to coordinate safe operations
* Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental standards
Essential Requirements
* National Grid Competent Person Authorisation (NSI 6 & 8 - Full Authorisation)
* HSG47 (Cat 1+2)
* Strong experience working within live HV substation environments
* Manual Handling certification
* Full PPE required prior to site attendance
