Job overview

Maternity services at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are undergoing transformational change in line with the ambitions set out in the Single Delivery Plan and the need to address health inequalities that exist particularly for women and birthing individuals from Black, Asian and deprived backgrounds and high-risk groups.

Our vision is aligned with the national and Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) deliverables, and we are looking for an exceptional midwife to join the team to ensure our maternity services maintain compliance with both external and internal key performance indicators

A key focus of this role will be to ensure the Trust is compliant with the NHSR Maternity Incentive Scheme, CQC requirements, screening KPIs and actions dictated by other national maternity reviews

The post holder is a key member of the Director of Midwifery office, under the line management of the Lead Midwife for Governance and Quality.


Main duties of the job

To support the Director of Midwifery, Head of Midwifery and the Lead Midwife for Governance and Quality with implementation of the Single Delivery Plan, and production of associated quality improvement plans and business cases.

The role will focus on the plans, wider implementation, risk and issue management and ongoing quality assurance processes for actions from national reviews, maternity incentive scheme (MIS), patient safety, governance and other workstreams. The post holder will be required to navigate across the team to ensure all the required stakeholders are feeding into the requirements national reviews as required where there may be independencies and links.

Demonstrate effective stakeholder management across different departments and at all levels and external forums

Contribute to the senior midwifery manager on call rota.

education/ qualifiications and Training

* Registered Midwife
* Masters degree or study at Masters level - or relevant experience
* Evidence of further continued professional development
* 5 years relevant post registration midwifery experience


Experience

* Experience at senior midwife level e.g. specialist midwife or ward/team management
* Evidence of working with multiple internal and external stakeholders
* Demonstrated understanding of maintaining and interpreting data
* Demonstrated understanding of governance issues relating to maternity services
* Experience of teaching/facilitation
* Project management


SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

* Good verbal and written communication skills in English, to enable liaison with patients, relatives and multi-disciplinary team and to produce concise written reports and notes.
* Knowledge of up to date nursing/ midwifery and NHS issues
* High motivation and ability to motivate others
* Knowledge of evidence informed and research based practice
* Managerial and leadership ability
* Insight into the needs of the Trust and Regional/Government initiatives

PPE requirements:Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
