We are seeking talented and motivated engineers at all levels, including Hardware Engineer, Senior Hardware Engineer, Principal Hardware Engineer, and Lead Hardware Engineer.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join the PSU Core Delivery Team (CDT) in Edinburgh. The team provides expert advice, guidance, design, and governance throughout the project lifecycle related to Power systems.
Role Overview:
As an experienced PSU design engineer, your main responsibility will be to lay the groundwork for future Power Systems, focusing on topology analysis, energy storage, and energy conservation technologies. You will support various projects within the PSU CDT, requiring a broad understanding of power techniques and the ability to address live issues. Additionally, you will oversee multiple projects, acting as a technical and managerial liaison between engineering teams and management.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Engineering, Project, and PSU CDT Management Teams with technical and managerial guidance.
* Assist the Power CDT in testing, prototyping, design verification, and production support.
* Create and review documentation including procurement specifications, SOWs, circuit and system simulations, white papers, test reports, and plans.
* Collaborate with other teams on EMC and grounding diagrams, EMC plans, and design reviews.
* Share knowledge within the PSU CDT.
* Provide design support to projects, suppliers, and partners, including schematic capture, component selection, and circuitry simulation.
* Conduct PSU topology analysis and review energy storage and conservation technologies.
* Assess how power systems impact generator performance.
Contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing across the business.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience in PSU or power system design, manufacture, testing, or integration.
* Minimum HND in Engineering, Systems, or related field.
* Knowledge in AC/DC and DCDC switched-mode power supply design.
* Familiarity with control and interface circuitry.
* Experience with Mentor Graphics and schematic/simulation tools.
* Proficiency with simulation software such as Simetrix, LT Spice, MATLAB.
* Fault diagnosis at the component level.
* Understanding of electrical power systems and safety standards.
* Experience with measurement and instrumentation systems.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Visio.
