QA is led by Shu-Wie Chen, who is a member of Risk Exco.QA is responsible for developing, testing, implementing and supporting quantitative models for valuation and risk management of traded assets, regulatory and economic capital, impairments, fraud detection, asset-liability management, operational risk, net revenue and balance sheet forecasting, and stress testing across Barclays Group.About QA MarketsThe QA Markets team is responsible for the research, development and implementation of quantitative models used by the Global Markets business. The team’s modelling work applies to a large range of financial products from flow to exotics across all asset classes, including rates, FX, inflation, equity, credit, XVA, municipals, securitized products, and commodities. The team also provides all modelling required for the equity and fixed income financing business and for the capitalization of market risk and counterparty credit risk. QA Markets works very closely with our business partners, providing expert knowledge and a suite of analytics tools and applications to support the day-to-day trading activities. This can include high performance computing, automation and visualization. In addition, the team is actively engaged in the effort to reduce the business operating costs by optimizing the use of capital and by helping the business formulate appropriate solutions to different regulatory requirements. The team operates out of London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Prague, and Paris.About QA Markets Strategic ProjectsQA Markets Strategic Projects team is accountable for the business delivery of our strategic cross-asset class projects. This includes our key regulatory projects such as FRTB, our key analytic projects such as Torus and Omega and desktop delivery projects such as Flix.Within QA Markets Strategic Projects, the Torus team is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the strategic risk engine Torus. Torus is intended to be a library-agnostic engine encapsulating business logic, data access and interaction with the quantitative libraries whilst providing unified interface to analytics to IT applications and end-users. It is a key delivery platform for a wide range of business initiatives and regulatory projects.Overall purpose of roleWe are looking to hire an experienced Quant Developer to drive the strategic redesign of the Torus platform and to lead the team delivering the subsequent implementation and integration. The role will involve assessing the current Torus API along with current and future use cases to determine how current clients could be better served and how to enable a wider range of analytics applications, such as pricing tools. As Torus is in production use, the role will also involve overseeing the QA Torus BAU team to ensure that incremental updates to the existing platform are consistent with the strategic end state for Torus. The candidate will work with the heads of QA Markets Strategic Projects and QA Markets Architecture to agree a common framework for analytics delivered by the QA Markets asset class teams, and a set of APIs for analytics clients which delivers a performant, unified interface to the team's analytics libraries.Key Accountabilities· Design an updated API and architecture for the Torus platform which provides an improved interaction model for existing users and enables new classes of use such as pricing models.· Lead a team of talented quant developers to deliver the new design.· Work with internal and external stakeholders to successfully integrate quant libraries and client applications to this updated platform.· Manage the QA Markets aspects of migration of applications from the current API to the new implementation. Stakeholder Management and Leadership · The candidate will be expected to be a thought leader in the Torus space, articulating a clear vision for the platform's intermediate and strategic states.· Quant Teams: The candidate will need to work with the QA Markets quant teams to agree how analytics should be integrated into the updated Torus platform.· Technology: The candidate will need to agree with our Technology stakeholders the functional and non-functional requirements for the new Torus to integrate with the strategic valuation and risk platforms.Decision-making and Problem Solving · The candidate will be expected to leverage their previous experience, coupled with a review of the existing platform and feedback from stakeholders, to decide on fundamental elements of the updated Torus platform.· The candidate will be responsible for resolution of issues as they arise in day-to-day work and will be expected to canvas relevant experts to determine the best path forward.
