Operations Director – Roofing Sector

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director with a proven background in the roofing industry to lead the operational performance of a high-growth business. This role is central to the company’s continued expansion and will play a key part in scaling the business to a £20m+ turnover.
You will take full ownership of project delivery, resource planning, commercial oversight, and health & safety - ensuring projects are completed to time, quality, and cost expectations. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior operational leader who is hands-on, commercially sharp, and ready to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Strategic Leadership
* Develop and execute the operations strategy, aligned with the company’s growth targets.
* Represent operations at board level, providing insight into performance and risk.
* Build a scalable operations structure capable of supporting significant business growth.
🔹 Project Delivery Oversight
* Ensure roofing and related projects are delivered safely, on time, and to budget.
* Oversee pre-construction, delivery, aftercare, and programme management functions.
* Monitor KPIs covering productivity, programme, quality, and client satisfaction.
🔹 Planning & Resource Management
* Collaborate with the Head of Operations to optimise use of labour, plant, and subcontractors.
* Drive improvements in productivity and operational efficiency across all teams.
🔹 Commercial & Financial Oversight
* Support the Commercial Manager in protecting project margins.
* Monitor cost controls and contribute to accurate forecasting and cashflow planning.
🔹 Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
* Lead the company’s commitment to HSEQ standards.
* Ensure all operational activities are fully compliant with legal and client requirements.
🔹 Client Relationship & Continuous Improvement
* Drive high client satisfaction through reliable project execution and clear communication.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives and ensure performance data is effectively captured and reported.
1. Essential Experience & Skills
✅ Must have a strong operational background in roofing – either in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
✅ Proven experience in senior leadership, managing multiple project teams and functions
✅ Commercially astute with a strong understanding of project margin control
✅ Skilled in workforce planning, process improvement, and performance reporting
✅ Strong knowledge of HSEQ frameworks and best practices
✅ Confident communicator, capable of influencing at board level
