37.5 hours per week, 5 over 7 days to include weekends and bank holidays. Night shifts may be required to cover annual leave. The Facilities Support Worker is a key member of the Portering and Transport team within Kendray Hospital, part of an integrated Facilities Services department delivering high quality, flexible and customer-focused service.
Role involves general portering, delivery and collection of meals, pharmacy, mail, laundry and refuse, plus basic maintenance tasks. You will work as part of a team and use initiative to prioritise tasks while maintaining a professional approach at all times. All Trust employees are encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients.

Responsibilities
* Provide high quality, developing and flexible portering, mail and maintenance service.
* Carry out general portering duties and the delivery/collection of meals, pharmacy items, mail, laundry and refuse.
* Undertake basic maintenance tasks and assist in the maintenance of Trust properties and services.
* Work as part of the team, prioritise daily duties using initiative, and maintain a professional approach in all situations.
* Deliver stores and food to wards/wards areas and villas as required; collect items from Pharmacy and Pathology; collect and deliver specimens.
* Secure buildings and property, manage keys, monitor CCTV where required and liaise with Security as needed.
* Conduct linen/refuse collections and cytotoxic waste disposal following guidelines.
* Assist with weather-related safety (gritting) and general garden duties as required.
* Drive hospital/plant vehicles (not HGV) following road traffic regulations.
* Carry out duties across multiple Trust properties as instructed by the Portering/Transport Manager; overtime or changed hours may be required.
* Report accidents/incidents promptly and observe Trust safety and equal opportunities policies.
Qualifications and Skills
* Essential: Basic literacy & numeric skills; ability to complete accurate documentation; ability to prioritise workload; ability to cope under pressure; ability to adapt and work as part of a team; good interpersonal skills; driving licence and access to a car during the working day (reasonable adjustments considered for disability).
* Desirable: Infection Control, COSHH, De-escalation & Break Away, Food Hygiene; First Aid certificate; knowledge of Highway Code; experience in estates/facilities or customer/patient-facing environment; IT/mobile device basics.
Training and Development
* Manual Handling; Fire Safety; commitment to undertaking relevant training.
