Industrial Architect – Wing Systems (12-Month Contract) Location: Filton (60% on-site) IR35: Inside IR35 Security: BPSS to start, SC eligible Hours: 35 per week (4.5-day week) Morson are recruiting an Industrial Architect to join a leading aerospace organisation supporting next-generation aircraft wing programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to help design and optimise industrial systems for future wing manufacture, covering industrial concept development, production flow, capacity modelling and digital factory tools. The Industrial Architect plays a key role in defining how new wings will be built — developing manufacturing system concepts, analysing industrial performance, and supporting the readiness and ramp-up of new wing programmes. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, digital and programme teams, acting as a technical integrator for all industrial system inputs. Key Responsibilities Support the development and optimisation of the industrial system for new and future wing programmes, including: Industrial System Design Contribute to early industrial concepts for future wing architectures Define production flows, takt time, cycle time, saturation and throughput Analyse rate capability and assess industrial readiness Lean & Line Design Support the deployment of lean line design principles Produce value stream maps for new industrial set-ups Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for flow optimisation Industrial Performance & Modelling Use capacity modelling and industrial simulation tools to validate system performance Support the maturation of digital ramp-up simulation tools Contribute to industrial assessments and scenario modelling Digital Factory Support Assist with digital tool deployment including VR, digital twins and 3D experience platforms Review digital industrial models and support their integration into programme planning Collaboration & Governance Work with engineering, manufacturing, operations and programme teams Present industrial concepts and findings to internal stakeholders Support project planning, risk management and progress reporting Skills & Experience Essential Strong knowledge of wing assembly or aerostructure manufacturing Experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering within aerospace Understanding of takt time, cycle time, capacity modelling, OEE and flow principles Ability to interpret technical data and make evidence-based decisions Confident communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders Interest in solving complex industrial problems within a collaborative team Desirable Experience working with suppliers or research partners Background in Lean Manufacturing Exposure to Industry 4.0 concepts or digital factory tools Experience of simulation, VR or 3DX environments Benefits Opportunity to support future wing concepts for advanced aircraft programmes Work in a multinational technical environment across the UK and Europe Exposure to innovative industrial technologies and manufacturing methods Develop industrial architecture, leadership and project coordination skills
