About the Role
We are recruiting a Temp Head Chef to lead the kitchen at an independent school in Leominster for the upcoming term. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for planning and delivering nutritious, well-presented meals for pupils and staff, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations. The successful candidate will join an experienced team and work closely with school staff to meet dietary requirements and seasonal menu planning.
Main Responsibilities
* Plan and prepare balanced, child-friendly menus in line with nutritional guidelines
* Lead the kitchen team during term-time service, ensuring timely production and service of meals
* Manage stock control, ordering, and portion control to minimise waste and control costs
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and allergen management procedures (HACCP)
* Maintain kitchen cleanliness, equipment standards, and safe working practices
* Communicate effectively with school staff, parents (where required), and suppliers
* Support and coach kitchen colleagues, promoting a positive, team-focused culture
Experience Required
* Proven experience in a senior chef role, ideally within education, care, or large-scale catering
* Experience of managing menu planning, stock control, and kitchen teams
* Knowledge of food hygiene regulations and allergen procedures
