Offer description

The work of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is essential to the wellbeing of the nation. Our staff work collaboratively as a team to shape the most cutting-edge knowledge relating to the fields of transplant and transfusion, and in doing so, they save and enhance thousands of lives every year.We value the input of every single team-member, so it is imperative to us that we are able to meet the needs of our workforce. As such, we are delighted to be developing a forward-thinking, staff-focused health inequalities and protected characteristics project, and it is within this team that you could use your data expertise to help us make a tangible difference to the wellbeing of our workforce. Join us, and through your astute analyses and recommendations, you will be respected as a subject matter expert in a truly dynamic organisation.

Main duties of the job

This is a fascinating opportunity to help us better our knowledge of the impact of health inequalities and protected characteristics on our workforce. Through the assessment of insightful data, we need to understand the key issues that need action, and as such, you will use ambitious data collection and research activities relating to disability, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age and other protected characteristics alongside data from our occupational health and sickness absence systems. You will also conduct research relating to access to, and the effectiveness of, health interventions that are currently available. Working in partnership with a wide variety of staff, you will collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to look at health inequalities within these groups. Of course, not all staff will initially see the value in this research, but you will work closely with them to help them understand the importance of their contribution, and how this will allow us to continue being the best possible employer. You will handle and assess complex and sensitive data and information, comparing options to address your findings, before making recommendations on the actions we should take.
