Amity International School, Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint a well-qualified, experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Director of Sport.
The School has ambitious aims with regards to its sport provision and highly values the important contribution that organised sport and physical activity plays for wellbeing, health, skill development (e.g. teamwork and leadership), and school and community togetherness. The purpose of this role is to drive the strategic development of both curriculum PE and Co-Curricular Sport at Amity.
The Physical Education and Sports Department is proud of its sustained growth over the last three years which has been largely a product of the passion and ambition of its staff. The person appointed to this role will be someone keen to champion sporting endeavour within the community as a whole. They will be responsible for growing all aspects of the school sport and PE provision including staff, facilities, as well as participation.
Amity International School, Abu Dhabi is renowned for its sport facilities in the capital. As the only school in the Emirate or in ADISSA (Abu Dhabi International Schools Sports Association) to be in possession of a 400m running track, a 50m indoor olimpic and sailing centerl, the potential for growth of our sports provision as well as our collaboration with other schools and academies is huge. The person appointed will be someone able to realise this vision.
We are looking for candidates who:
* Are graduates in Physical Education or Sport Science with Qualified Teacher Status
* Have a minimum of three years teaching experience post qualification
* Have experience teaching Physical Education in a British curriculum school
* Have proven leadership skills in managing a large department in a demanding and dynamic environment
* Demonstrate the ability to think strategically and work collaboratively
* Possess strong data analysis skills and are up to date with current curriculum changes
* Have experience teaching students of varied nationality/cultural background
* Can lead the Physical Education department through effective day-to-day management and longer-term development planning
* Will lead and manage the Co-Curricular Sports Programme
* Can direct the School's sporting strategy to optimise the quality of sports provision
* Will represent sport at ADISSA committee meetings and be responsible for convening ADISSA competitions
* Demonstrate passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
* Show stamina, resilience, integrity, and professionalism
Key Performance Indicators
* Participation, achievement and progress within ADISSA and BSME
* Participation and progress in the scale, number and quality of intra-school sport competitions
* Progress and achievement in Primary, GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC sport/PE
* Participation in the Sports Leadership Award
The Role
Please note: The nature of this role requires commitment and intensity. This is not a 9-5 role and the person appointed must be willing to give freely of their time in service of our students, their families and the school. This is a challenging post and will require both the sacrifice of some weekends and evenings for the sake of the students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Leading the Physical Education department and Co-Curricular Sports Programme
* Directing the School's sporting strategy and promoting high standards of performance and participation
* Ensuring quality control through data analysis and regular monitoring of student progress
* Managing external fixtures, staff deployment, and sports facilities
* Overseeing the organisation of teaching groups and public examination entries
* Building links with external organisations, sports clubs, universities and national governing bodies
* Managing the sport budget and ensuring financial targets are met
* Ensuring all health and safety requirements and risk assessments are maintained
