About the Role
We’re looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller to take ownership of the financial operations of the Brands function within Curate Group’s portfolio. This is a pivotal role that goes beyond traditional reporting, ideal for someone eager to build and lead a finance function within a fast-growing, creative business.
Our Brands include international events businesses such as Lumos Experiences, Beyond 30, Stories in the Park, Life's a Rodeo and more.
Reporting directly to the Founder, you’ll be responsible for implementing scalable systems,processes and controls that support both day to day finance activity and long term strategic planning. You’ll actively identify opportunities to streamline operations, improve financial visibility and drive efficiency.
You’ll also act as a key commercial adviser, supporting new ventures by assessing risk and growth potential and helping to shape our future trajectory through financial insight.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all aspects of the Brands finance function across Curate Group’s portfolio.
* Ownership of the month end close and management accounts reporting processes including analysis and commentary.
* Responsible for ensuring strong financial controls are in place and operating effectively, including robust account reconciliations.
* Responsibility for the companies’ tax and VAT affairs, submissions, and compliance, including new tax requirements and jurisdictions.
* Act as a strategic partner to the team, providing commercial insight, risk analysis and investment evaluation.
* Reporting and cash flow management.
* Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* Liaising with our external accountants to manage key financial reporting.
* Management of supplier payments across the business.
* Train staff members on the correct procedures for effective finance management.
Candidate Requirements
* Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
* +7 years proven experience in a Financial Controller or Finance Manager role, ideally within the events, hospitality or creative industries.
* An excellent understanding of finance systems and proficiency in using accounting software e.g. SAGE/Xero/Excel/Google Workspace
* Experience of working with a number of legal entities under one group.
* Highly detail oriented and exceptionally organised.
* Confident building financial processes and improving existing workflows.
* Excellent commercial acumen with experience supporting strategic decision making.
* Proactive, hands on- mindset with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across creative and operational teams.
* Paying a salary between £60,000-£70,000.
