Location: Daventry, Northamptonshire / Midlands-based with UK-wide travel

Hours: Variable

Job type: Contractor / Associate Consultant

We are supporting our client with the recruitment of an experienced Health & Safety Associate Consultant - DSEAR and/or PUWER to provide specialist consultancy support across a range of client sites and industries.

This is an excellent associate opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge of DSEAR and/or PUWER, ATEX and process safety, who is confident working with clients and delivering practical, commercially focused risk management advice.

The role

As a Health & Safety Associate Consultant, you will help clients manage risks associated with potentially explosive atmospheres and hazardous materials.

You will be responsible for:

* Conducting DSEAR and/or PUWER audits and risk assessments
* Providing practical risk mitigation recommendations
* Developing and supporting the implementation of safety management systems
* Delivering technical advice to clients across sectors such as oil and gas, chemicals, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals
* Keeping up to date with relevant regulations, industry standards and best practice
* Building strong client relationships and delivering a high level of professional service
* Producing clear, accurate reports and recommendations following site visits and assessments

Although our client is based in Daventry, the ideal candidate will be located within the Midlands. Where possible, work will be allocated close to your home base, although some UK-wide travel will be required depending on client and project needs.

The role will involve a blend of client site work and remote report writing. Typically, this may include at least one day on site followed by time allocated for report writing, subject to client and site commitments.

A competitive day rate is available and may be negotiable depending on experience. Mileage, travel and overnight expenses will also be covered where applicable.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

* A degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
* Membership of IChemE, CertIOSH or CMIOSH, or evidence of active CPD towards professional membership
* At least five years’ experience in process safety, ideally within oil and gas, chemical, manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments
* Strong working knowledge of ATEX, DSEAR and/or PUWER
* Experience developing process safety systems and providing consultancy advice
* Strong report writing and client communication skills
* A practical, solutions-focused approach
* A full UK driving licence

Why consider this opportunity?

This role offers the opportunity to work flexibly as an Associate Consultant, supporting a variety of clients with meaningful, specialist safety work. You will be able to apply your technical expertise across different sectors, while being part of a professional, client-focused consultancy.

If you are an experienced DSEAR, PUWER or process safety professional looking for a flexible associate opportunity, we would be pleased to hear from you.
