Overview
Reporting to: The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer, and they hold all the employers responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations). A Direct Payments client in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them with their care needs. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The person is looking for a PA who can start around 8am for a few hours help at home and support with occasional appointments in Haverfordwest. There will be one evening required per month so that the person can attend support meeting in Haverfordwest. This lady is a wheelchair user, and your vehicle will be required to fit this. You must be a dog lover as the person is very attached to her dog. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.
Responsibilities
* Work with the person to meet their health and wellbeing goals.
* Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
* Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
* Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
* Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
* To provide companionship in the employers home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
* Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
* Ensuring the employers safety at all times during your working hours
* To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
* Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
* Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance

* Full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required. You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
