Please note we are currently not offering Sponsorship Job Purpose: To provide high-quality care and support to children and young people with complex Learning Disabilities in a residential setting. This role involves leading by example, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of young people while guiding and supporting the staff team to deliver consistent and therapeutic care. Key Responsibilities: 1. Child-Centred Care Skilled in supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, using a trauma-informed and child-centred approach. Ensure that each childs physical, emotional, and social needs are met in line with their individual care plan. Support children in managing challenging behaviours, promoting resilience, independence, and positive outcomes. Experience in working with children with non-verbal communication, speech and language delays, and alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC). Understanding of sensory processing differences and how to adapt environments and routines to meet individual sensory needs. 2. Leadership and Team Supervision Lead shifts effectively, ensuring all tasks and care interventions are carried out to the highest standard. Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to junior staff, promoting reflective practice. Support staff in managing challenging behaviours through de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies. Contribute to team meetings and training sessions, sharing knowledge and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Contribute to the on-call rota. 3. Behaviour Management and Safeguarding Use approved behaviour management strategies to address challenging situations calmly and effectively. Monitor and respond to risks, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and staff at all times. Adhere to safeguarding protocols, promptly reporting any concerns or incidents. Maintain accurate, detailed records of incidents, interventions, and progress in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. 4. Daily Operations Plan, coordinate, and oversee activities designed to meet the individual needs and interests of children. Ensure the home operates efficiently, maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Conduct handovers and ensure clear communication between shifts, promoting consistency of care. 5. Professional Development Participate in training programs focused on managing challenging behaviours, trauma, and mental health. Stay up to date with best practices, policies, and legislation in residential childcare. Build and maintain professional relationships with external agencies, families, and other stakeholders.
