Job Description
The Centre Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership of the Care Team, operational management, and development of The Nicky. The role ensures that the centre runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently while delivering a high‑quality experience for members, volunteers, and visitors. The postholder will champion the values of MJCC, nurture a warm community atmosphere, and drive continuous improvement in services and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
* Manage the Care Team, volunteer coordination, entertainment and activities.
* Oversee the daily running of The Nicky, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well‑managed environment.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, food hygiene, and data protection requirements.
* Plan, coordinate, and evaluate a varied programme of social, cultural, and wellbeing activities.
* Work with staff, volunteers, and external partners to enhance the centre’s offer.
* Ensure meals, events, and activities run smoothly and meet the needs of members.
People Management
* Lead, support, and motivate a small team of staff and volunteers.
* Provide supervision, training, and performance management.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working culture.
Member Engagement
* Build strong relationships with members and their families, ensuring their needs and feedback shape the centre’s services.
* Promote a warm, respectful, and community‑focused atmosphere.
* Signpost members to wider MJCC and external services where appropriate.
Administration
* Oversee bookings, attendance records, and administrative systems.
* Provide accurate reporting to the Chief Executive and Board as required.
* Meet potential new members and conduct assessments to ensure The Nicky is suitable for their needs.
Experience and skills Required
* Experience in care, ideally with a minimum NVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care.
* Strong leadership and people‑management skills.
* Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
* Warm, approachable, and empathetic manner with strong interpersonal skills.
* Ability to multitask and respond calmly to challenges.
* Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and compliance requirements.
* Commitment to the values and ethos of MJCC and the Jewish community.
* Experience working with older adults or vulnerable groups.
* Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and community life.
* Event or programme coordination experience.
