General Operator (Permanent) Pay rate £12.82 per hours plus 25% shift allowance when working the late shift, paid breaks and bonus! Here at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, in Rotherham, we are proud to manufacture Orkot® bearings and wear rings. Orkot® is the world's leading brand in composite bearing material for wear resistant bearings under high load. With over 60 years’ experience in composite bearings, our Rotherham facility provides a full service, from engineering concept to delivery of a bearing solution for specialist markets such as marine, hydro & tidal power. We have a vacancy for a General Operator to join our team and work in the Wrapping Shop area of our manufacturing facility in Rotherham. Hours of work This position is 38 hours per week on a rotating 2-shift system of earlies and lates, Monday - Friday (38 hours) and shift allowance is paid on the late shift. The Company operates shift patterns as set out below. The Company reserves the right to allocate you to any of these patterns or to any other pattern of hours of working (including day hours) having given you reasonable notice. The hours of work at Rotherham vary according to the Shift you are allocated: A SHIFT: (Earlies): are from 6 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday (Lates) 2 pm to 11pm Monday to Thursday B SHIFT (Earlies): are from 6 am to 2 pm Monday to Thursday and from 6 am to 12 pm on a Friday. (Lates) 2 pm to 12am Monday to Wednesday and from 2 pm to 10 pm on a Thursday. A five-day working week is in operation. What be you’ll doing? This is a basic manual role based in the “Wrapping Shop” department. It involves: Extracting, lifting a combination of lightweight and steel mandrels out of a curing oven and placing them in the relevant area of the factory. In doing this, you will be required to operate the extraction machine, Neatly filling in paperwork. Undertake manual handling. Learning all aspects of wrapping, which involves forming resin-soaked clothes into various forms (e.g. tubes/ laminate sheets) to be hardened in the oven. This process involves the mixing of chemicals and working to specific standard operating procedures (SOP’s) with mandatory use of PPE and a high level of health & safety adherence. Performing typical machine shop and mold press operations. Detecting and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Being willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up and attainment scores. Attaching appropriate labels and tags to products and packages. Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues. Placing finished goods on the designated area. Maintaining a clean and safe work area. Daily targets will be set for you and must be adhered to all times and will form part of the 3-month probationary period. Excellent attendance and teamwork is an expectation of this role. Opportunities for development and training exist. This is a physically driven role, with some repetitive duties; you must be able to lift up to 25kg weight, comfortably bend and rotate your posture. What we need from you: To be successful in this role you must: Have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent, including Maths & English (grade C/4 or above) The ability to work as part of a team and possess good written and verbal communication skills. Have previous experience and a proven track record of working in high volume manufacturing. Along with the above education and experience, the following personal qualities make you an ideal candidate! Be a reliable and regular attender with a good work ethic and positive can-do attitude. Not fazed by the faint smell of styrene or sticky materials such as resin. Have a personal value for health and safety. Have a strong work ethic which makes you a reliable, dependable and conscientious employee. Excellent communication skills Work quickly but methodically with excellent attention to detail. Strong time management skills. Ability to use initiative, and work in a team environment. Good IT skills and experience in reading manufacturing or works orders (SOP’s). Confident working with machinery in a fast-paced factory environment Able to use your initiative. Like working in a team environment.
